PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The Pipe Trades Pre-Employment program is a 16-week job readiness program that includes:

  • An intro to the Plumbing, Steamfitting/Pipefitting & Sprinkler Fitter trades
  • Industry-relevant safety training (WHIMS, Construction Entry Level Training, Fall Protection, Confined Space & Emergency First Aid
  • In-class theory and hands-on training activities
  • Trades Math, Skills for Success & Job Readiness training
  • 4 weeks of monitored work placement with a local employer

WHAT ARE THE PIPE TRADES?
Individuals who work in the Pipe Trades are responsible for laying, fabricating, maintaining, installing, repairing, and servicing equipment and piping systems for water, steam, gases, chemicals, and fuel. They must be able to utilize drawings, specifications, and codes to measure and adjust metal, plastic, and fiberglass pipes, valves, and fittings, and inspect systems for leaks or other defects. The work itself is complex and requires individuals who can perform a variety of tasks throughout the day.
